I used outlook and excel yesterday. Today, I tried the same apps and got a message to say "office was busy" and then a message to say the program could not start. A full repair of office looks like it downloaded and reinstalled gave a working system. If I swap users everything is ok.
If I restart I get the same problem with office not being able to start. In order to conserve my internet download usage, I've googled and found I need to use the "Office Deployment Tool" to bring down the Office files and stop the repeated download whilst I am troubleshooting the problem. At this point, I have not uninstalled office using the fixit shown above - that will be my next step.
What does the message mean? Do I need to uninstall office before using the Office Deployment Tool and downloading? Doesn't seem like there is a link to me? Have I got the correct "product id"? It completed successfully. After the re-boot, OneDrive Another reboot. When the download is re-started, these files are not touched but there is a good 15 mins wait and lots of network traffic. I reckon the files are being downloaded but then are being lost - perhaps due to the virus scan phase.
